And it\u2019s important that you go into a great amount of detail here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When addressing the product, make sure you are hitting these main points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What your product or service is<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What you\u2019re doing with your product or service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is your chance to show that you know what you\u2019re doing and you have a plan for your product or service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next \u201cP\u201d in a successful business plan is position. <br><br><strong>3: Position \u2014 What Is Your Position In the Market<\/strong><br><br>Essentially, your position is your place in the market.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So let\u2019s unpack this. Are you wanting to be on the high end (think Nordstrom) or the low end (think Dollar Store)? You\u2019ll want to identify this in the product section.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t want to be on the high end, where the clientele is sparse, and you don\u2019t want to be on the low end where you\u2019re battling lots of competition for pennies. Your goal is to be in the sweet spot &#8211; somewhere just above the middle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is important because you\u2019re not all things to all people, and you don\u2019t want to be either. If you\u2019re buying an existing business, there\u2019s an obvious past, present, and a projection for the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people who are raising capital for a business are wanting to look at the future projections with the understanding that you\u2019re starting from scratch &#8211; ground zero. You\u2019ve clearly laid out that this is a new venture that is classified as a complete startup.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most potential investors or lenders are going to want to take a close look at those future projections and it\u2019s important to be conservative.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever you think it is, reduce it. For example, if you think the income is going to be 4K per person for rent, make it $3,600. Give yourself breathing room. Make sure you can under- promise and over-deliver so that when it\u2019s all said and done, you come out ahead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let\u2019s talk profitability for a second&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We assume you know that your business must be profitable, which is why projections are so important. Projections will show your profitability to investors by giving them the numbers they\u2019re actually interested in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investors don\u2019t initially want to know how much money they\u2019re going to make up front or what\u2019s in it for them.
